The was day 1 of one of Troop 46's Life scout's Eagle Project. This project was to build a new sidewalk at Bunker Hill Presbyterian Church. We dug a trench 5 inches deep and 49ft long using the Dingo donated by Mr. Miller of Miller Ace Hardware in Stephens City, and used a tamping machine also donated by Mr. Miller to pack the dirt. Then we spread blue dust (gravel #10 grain) under where the paver stones would go. At the same time some of the younger volunteers used a wheel barrow to cart dirt to the other flower bed. This dirt was slowly spread through the course of the day. Retaining wall blocks where places as a border to the corner flower bed, and the dust was raked flat. After that we laid the paver stones and broke for lunch. After lunch, we cleaned up the area. |
