On July 2nd 2017 four Scouts and two adult leaders from BSA Troop 46 took part in a Sea Base trip. The trip began early on the morning of the 2nd July. The group met and left for Dulles airport. They took a non-stop flight to St. Thomas, VI. The first day on the island was spent exploring the beach and the first night was at the hotel. The true adventure began the following day around 1400 hrs. when they arrived at the dock and met with Captain Judy and Captain Bob, (also Leo the ships dog) the owners of a 41 ft. sail boat that the group would be living on for the next week. The sail boats  name was the Adastra.
During the week the group learned to sail the vessel and sailed for more than 50 miles around the island of St. John. They also took part in the following adventures: Hiking on St. John, Visiting the ruins of a Dutch Sugar cane plantation, took part in a 4th of July celebration on St. John in which they watched a parade and saw "Carnival", went on a hike to a resort that allowed them to see a movie, learned to snorkel, and saw lots of wild life and uncommon vegetation both on the land and in the ocean.
The adventure ended on July 9th. The group left the Island and flew back to Dulles airport where they got in their cars and drove home with great stories to tell and adventures to remember!
